Meet Elizabeth

Welcome district 833 friends and thank you for taking the time to get to know me as a candidate!

Former K12 Teacher

My passion for public education, students, and educators runs deep.

As a former classroom teacher, I believe public schools are students’ playground for life. Students should feel they not only belong but love to be at school exploring relationships with caring adults and their peers and learning about the world.

As an educator, I spent nearly 14 years in public school classrooms at the middle and high school science level - including 11 years at South Washington County Schools. Most of my time in the district was spent at East Ridge High School helping launch and teaching Project Lead the Way biomedical science electives.

Lifelong Educator

I’m a director of curriculum for the University of Minnesota Medical School, where I help bring the most effective educational practices to life with medical school faculty, staff, and students. My role encompasses the design and operations for the foundational courses in undergraduate medical education.

Skills I Would Bring to the School Board

I have some great skills to contribute to the SoWashCo school board including:

  • Curriculum design & innovative pedagogy expertise

  • Collaboration & relationship building with diverse stakeholders

  • Leadership development & coaching skills

  • Change & conflict management

  • Analytical / scientific background - evidence-based decision making

  • Distill complex information into straightforward points for all audiences

Personal Life

I live in Woodbury with my husband and our amazing ten year old son as well as our cat. We moved into the community because we were excited for our son to experience his education in these excellent school communities. Since my son started school, we’ve navigated and learned a lot about services for students with special needs.

We also love the trails, our neighbors, and the community events offered here. You can find us at the farmers market, biking around town, enjoying the library, fishing at Carver Lake, or in our garden.
